Jalapeno Cucumber Spicy Margarita

I wish I had a better photo of the margarita, but every time I make it I’m too excited to drink it to snap a good photo.

Jalapeno Cucumber Spicy Margarita

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces jalapeno blanco tequila (see Tips below for brands or self-infusing directions)

  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice

  • 3/4 ounce agave syrup

  • 1 ounce orange juice (or orange liqueur like Contreau or triple sec)

  • 3 sprigs mint

  • 2 slices of cucumber

  • salt rim (optional)

  • ice

Instructions

Muddle the cucumber and mint into a cocktail shaker. Then add the rest of the ingredients with a few ice cubes, shake, and strain into a glass that is already filled with ice.

Tips

  • Some like it hot, some don’t: You can use regular 100% agave blanco tequila if you don’t prefer the heat. My go-to tequila for mixed drinks is Espolon blanco which is affordable and good.

  • Spicy tequila: I buy Tanteo Jalapeno tequila (I’m sure there are other brands but it’s not common). You could also infuse tequila yourself by adding jalapeno slices into blanco 100% agave tequila for 24 hours, then strain it.

  • Rim the glass with salt first: be sure to do that before pouring the cocktail.
